My Biggest Inspiration
Katherine V
My dad is one of the biggest inspirations in my life. Every morning when the sky is still pitch black outside, he wakes up with a smile from ear to ear, still knowing that he has to work long hours. Also, when I ever do something wrong that I know I’m not supposed to do, he looks at me a gives me wisdom that I would remember forever. When my dad works long hours from four in the morning to twelve at night, he still comes home and does all he can to help anybody out that looks tired. I have always known my dad for being the man of the house, having high expectations, patient, loving and hard working.
Driving home one night from volleyball, my dad asked me how my day was at school. I told him about how I got in trouble by lying very quietly and he just stared at me looking as if I had let him down. Then he opens his mouth saying, “Your personality and how you act is much more important than getting good grades and making honor role.” I sat in the car, trying to take all of it in, and for the rest of the car ride, all I could hear was cricket sounds surrounding me. I finally realized that he wasn’t mad; he was being a responsible, thoughtful parent who always wanted the best for us and had high expectations. My dad has always given us words of wisdom that he knows is well worth remembering. One thing I will always cherish about my dad is how every morning we might not recognize it but he says wisdom every day. The words of wisdom were, “get a hundred.” Meaning, get a hundred percent on every test and always try your best. Before I was born he was saying it to my older brothers and sisters. It shows me that he cares that much of telling us things that would soon later pay off in the long run.
My dad works hard for everything that he gets an opportunity to do. He is a cardiologist doctor who was rated one of the top five doctors in the whole state and is over all of his partners. Just to get to that point, he went to college for an extra six years for a medical degree which shows me he wanted it that bad to become something he knew he would be good at. Every morning, he wakes up when the birds haven’t even started chirping to get to work and doesn’t get home until nine o clock at night. Another thing that I will always remember about my dad is when I have a volleyball tournament every Sunday and has to work that day. He begs to leave work even though he has to drive clear across town, just so he can at least see one of my games. Also, he coaches my brother’s lacrosse team and for every practice, he has to rush out of work, walking onto the field in his blazer suit and black tie. Whenever somebody in the family is sick, he comes home immediately to check on us and works extra hours so he can get his time in. My dad has always inspired me to work hard in everything I do, especially if I want it really bad.
A leader is the best way to describe my dad. He is over his whole work board and always is the one to figure out the schedule and meetings. My dad is a leader in my house and always is the one to rake the leaves, take out the trash and shovel the snow. He never gets stressed out about anything and always is the problem solver. When he gets emails that say that the person is stressed out or that they want to quit, he calmly takes his time and it ends up being all right. Like I said before, my dad is one of the biggest inspirations in my life. I’ve always seen my dad work hard, be inspirational, caring, and a great father. My dad has helped people and always has kept them calm. That is why my dad is one of the biggest inspirations in my life.
